🌙Celebrate the moon and harvest season this Mid-Autumn Festival with Chai Culture Club, in collaboration with Lunarium, as we feast on earthly delights and listen to moon-inspired poetry. Local poet Asyia Gover will lead a poetry workshop activity and host an open mic to hear each other’s writings!

🎟️ RSVP Required, Limited Seats. This FREE event is open to Asian and Asian American identifying community members ages 18+. We will have other opportunities open to the public in the future. Donations are encouraged for those who are able to contribute so we can keep our programs accessible.

Open mic performers have 3-5 minutes each to share, and previously-written poems on any topic are welcome. Please use discretion regarding strong language.

About the Guest Poet
Asyia Gover is a writer, artist, educator, and mediator. She was raised by and now proudly co-hosts Spokane’s longest-running poetry event, Broken Mic. Additionally, she has been privileged to serve Spokane as a judge for Poetry Out Loud Eastern Washington Regional Finals (2026) and as a guest editor of the Spokane poetry anthology, Down River, Deep Root (Carbonation Press, 2026). In April 2026, Asyia launched Camassia Creative Media, a micro-printing service that seeks to elevate community writers and artists by providing flexible, relationship-oriented publishing options. Asyia’s work seeks to capture a queer, third-culture perspective on ordinary life and folk traditions. Depending on the season, you might find her harvesting fruits and veggies from the backyard garden, walking along the beach at low tide, curled up with a good book, or spinning donuts in a snowy parking lot.

ACL Spokane’s Chai Culture Club is an intergenerational cultural arts program that creates spaces for Asians and Asian Americans to connect, build belonging, and explore the richness and complexity of our stories.
Through art, storytelling, cultural media, food, and thoughtful conversations, we bring together community members across generations to share experiences, exchange perspectives, and learn from one another. Our gatherings invite members to explore the diverse histories and evolving identities within Asian and Asian American communities.
Chai Culture Club welcomes the many ways we experience culture, identity, family, migration, and belonging. Membership is free and open to Asians and Asian Americans in the Spokane area. Select events are also open to the broader public.
