Are you ready to build power with Asian youth and create lasting impact in Spokane?

Asians for Collective Liberation (ACL Spokane) is hiring a Youth Organizer to lead powerful, creative, community-rooted programs that center Asian and Asian American youth (ages 13–18). If you’re passionate about social justice, youth leadership, and making change through cultural art, environmental justice, storytelling and civic engagement, we want to hear from you!

The Youth Organizer is a new position at ACL and will plan, promote, recruit, and implement the Asian Youth for Collective Liberation—a youth organizing fellowship for high school students. The Fellowship connects young people (ages 13–18) with arts, culture, leadership, and civic engagement. ACL Spokane’s goal is to create a sustainable and multi-dimensional space for youth organizing in Spokane. The position also leads the coordination of our annual Youth Organizing Summit and year-round organizing workshops and training(s), and plays a critical role in building leadership and organizing Asian American youth in the region. This role is grant-funded and will last until July 31, 2028 (unless more funding can be secured).

Are you looking to make an impact locally and ready to step into a leadership role? We’re looking for someone grounded and inspired by ACL’s Mission Vision, Values, who brings strong intercultural and interpersonal communication skills, and who is able to build authentic relationships with youth for a shared purpose. The core responsibilities include:

Youth Organizing Programming (80%)

  • Serve as the lead staff member for the Asian Youth for Collective Liberation, a cohort-based fellowship serving at least 12 high school students each year that empowers youth and builds skills that support their efforts toward shaping and building a more just society. Co-design program framework, lead outreach and promotion efforts, and coordinate selection process in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support new fellowship cohort members each year, ensuring the program remains culturally relevant, linguistically accessible, and responsive to community needs.
  • Work closely with senior leadership on the design and execution of an annual Youth Organizing Summit that builds foundational youth organizing skills and highlights leadership, culture, and community priorities.
  • Work with Director(s) to strategize, develop, and coordinate activities for our Youth Organizing Program that are age-appropriate, culturally rooted, and justice-centered.
  • Coordinate and facilitate year-round youth organizing workshops and trainings to equip youth with skills in organizing, advocacy, and creative expression.
  • Support youth in small-group, staff-mentored projects while collaborating across ACL’s core program areas—Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement, Environmental/Climate Justice, and Health & Wellbeing—to ensure youth organizing and activities align with ACL’s program pillars.
  • Guide the fellowship cohort to design and deliver Asian American Heritage Month programming, supporting youth in all aspects of planning, promotion, fundraising, logistics, and communications.
  • Organize and prepare youth for civic engagement activities including City Council testimony, grassroots advocacy, and Legislative Day in Olympia with APIC-WA.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to develop engaging outreach and educational content across website, social media, and other communications channels to promote youth programs, build community connection, and support ACL’s goals. Serve as the primary spokesperson for ACL’s youth development program.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with other cultural groups, youth organizations,  and partner institutions to build a cohesive and supportive community and pipeline of engaged youth.
  • Ensure youth organizing program alumni continue to develop leadership pathways and serve as ambassadors of ACL’s mission.
  • Provide public testimony or speaking at City Council and other events regarding youth concerns and issues at the direction of the Communication Director.

Cross-team collaboration (10%)

  • Support planning and implementation of other activities involving youth engagement.
  • Participate in organization wide planning.
  • Support the work of team members to ensure a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Administrative and Grant Management (10%)

  • Contribute to grant reporting, budgeting, billing, and compliance tasks, including data, stories, and documentation to funders.
  • Track youth participation, outcomes, and impact for internal learning and external reporting.
  • Maintain filing, program documentation, and recordkeeping systems
  • Keep track of project hours on timesheet to be submitted bi-weekly
